Now then, before all of you say there she goes again?Let me admit I am not coming up with the new solution to Fermat?s theorem. I have been using this product for sometime and since I used it today as
well, I thought of writing a review on it. Yes I can see those nodding heads and saying yes yes its just that you couldn?t think of anything worthwhile to write on and since its been a few days since you wrote a review, you chose to write on this one. How perceptive of you guys, that?s exactly how it is!
Persistent that I am, here I go?..
Every year ever since I started bothering about sunrays, tanning and pollution and wrinkles there (Well for all those who are trying to guess how could I possibly bother about wrinkles at this age, all I can say is that I did make a fuss about youthful skin sometime back though now I am back to that usual ?I don?t care? attitude though not as irritatingly as that Lifebuoy ad I hope!!
OK I get back to writing about suncreens before you pull your hair out), I have been buying some or the other sunscreen bottle inspite of the last year?s bottle looking at me in disappointment.
I am one of those compulsive shoppers who as a kid were used to new notebooks and new tiffin boxes every year and that habit of mine has been there to this day.
Before we move onto sunscreens I want to tell you that for one, no sunscreen makes you look any fairer than you actually are though an effective sunscreen does prevent further skin tanning. The reason why you should be using a sunscreen is to protect your skin against scorching sun rays because they damage your skin and make it dry and wrinkled though.
There again I go to the supermarket and start browsing through those bottles of various hues and sizes promising the eversofresh look on your face. Since I have had to travel extensively in the summers for the last 2-3 years, I was doubly cautious this time. I saw Lotus sunscreen, remembered how it was very greasy and expensive too and rejected it. I didn?t even bother checking Shehnaz products this time because for all U know this too would lying on my dressing table for years and that was scary since you had to pay a fortune to buy one in the first place.
Next I spot my good ol? Lakme a clone of which must have been there already in some remote corner of my shelf but nevertheless, new packaging etc enticed towards buying this one yet again. How incorrigible!! I have been using it since this summer and the conclusions thereof (Hey that sounds like an intro to a thesis!!) are listed below :
1. Non greasy look
Contrary to popular opinion, not all sunscreens make your face look like a deep fried (and very poorly at that) poori. Though it?s definitely not advisable for both oily and combination skin to use it without applying some talcum powder or carrying tissue. The reason why I desist from using compact or any other powder although my skin is normal is that it gives a very ?made up? artificial look to one?s face as opposed to using tissues which ensures a natural and clean feel to your skin.
2. Fragrance
It has a very subtle fragrance which gives you a fresh feeling whether it?s a sultry day or a cool one. I prefer this to a heavy floral scent which is there in all the so called herbal products such as Ayur and Lotus. Please !! The last thing you would want before a meeting is reach you office sweaty and smelly!!!
3. Quantity
This is something I strictly follow and have found the results as desired. Please do not use a sunscreen liberally. Two layers of sunscreen is in no way going to ensure double protection and instead might make you very uncomfortable because of that thick layer on your face. In fact the way it?s shown on most of the television commercials is exactly the way you should never use it!!!
4. Price
At Rs 46/- for a small bottle, it?s not only affordable as I mentioned earlier, you shouldn?t use more of it. In fact a small bottle should last you more than two months if you use it just for the face and arms.
5. TPI/SPF
It has a TPI of 70 which for Indian conditions works just fine.Though SPF is the standard measure of sun protection around the world,Tan protection index is what is known to work in Indian sub continent.I have my doubts on that but it surely has been effective in controlling tan on my skin.
I have observed that it does seem to control tanning and my skin has not been that rubberlike the way it used to be after exposure to sun everyday without the application of this one.
Lastly, since Mumbai people will have to gear up against the humidity and heat in the coming two months, here I go :
1. Wear a scarf if possible to protect your hair and face against dirt and sunrays. Also wear light coloured cotton clothes with full sleeves if possible.
2. Drink lots of water and try not to apply a lot of make up onto your face.
3. Wash your face as often as you can.
4. Do not let the sweat settle in. Wipe it off using a tissue.
Though this might sound cliched,
Most importantly, wear a smile.Do RRC my review.
