A nearly hair raising experience!. Review on Lakme Beauty Salon - Mumbai

I started using the services of Lakme Salon in the year 2003 at their Sion branch. I was happy with their services till I was suggested a fruit facial by their staff. I informed them that I would be leaving for a trip to Australia and the staff at the Lakme Salon felt that I would require to create a good impression on the people overseas. In fact, her claim was that my face would be rid of pimples and other skin related disorders after the fruit facial. My face was actually perfect before availing this service and I thought my beauty would get enhanced by availing this service, but I now feel I was terribly wrong.

A few days after I spent Rs. 500 and odd on their fruit facial service, boils started developing on my face and they healed later, but turned into black marks and they have not gone since then and my face has become ugly. This was the first instance when I lost my trust in them. After some years, I had shifted to Mulund and thankfully their Mulund branch staff were not that greedy to offer me many services.

Now, again after several years, I have shifted to Vikhroli and I visited their Ghatkopar branch yesterday. Since I have never been waxed on the cheek before, I did not know how it would turn out to be. I have extremely sensitive skin, but I never knew that the suggestion of the staff would turn into another nightmare. The staff that served me told me, "Aapke pair bahut gande hain, " to which I replied that I had a fracture and my legs were in a bandage, which is why they look dirty. I decided to get my legs also waxed.

The intention of the staff was to actually suggest snidely that I take her pedicure services. I am sure she would have damaged my beautiful legs too like she damaged my face badly. After availing their waxing service, the staff forgot to apply ice to my cheeks, though she did use a wet tissue and some Lakme cream, none of which had helped. When I reached home, I looked in the mirror and I was shocked to notice that reddish boils had broken out on my face, making it look further miserable(see attached photographs). The red boils are also itching now. I applied sandalwood powder before I went to sleep and still the boils have not healed. I am highly worried, since I had spent Rs. 500 or more for their services and history repeated itself again. I may not avail their beauticians' services again, since I constantly keep getting boils on my skin either due to the cream they apply or the wet tissue they use or simply due to their forgetfulness. I am not even sure whether these boils would heal now and if so, I am wondering when they would get cured. I was also shocked when the staff sarcastically exclaimed in Marathi to the manager that my legs were dirty. So much for a beautician, whose job is to make people look beautiful, but can't do her work perfectly. If not my legs, they are ever ready to criticize my eyebrows and every ready to attack that for marketing and shamelessly at that. I fail to understand why they are so desperate to market their services that they would not do their work properly.

I would not recommend the Lakme Salon to any person that has highly sensitive skin, particularly since their staff are only trying their best to make money by charging for every part they wax or clean up individually(in parts) rather than trying to help the customer reduce their pimples or treat skin related problems. They should at least avoid aggressive marketing or even suggesting their additional services to the customer just out of the need for making at least INR 500 per person per day.

However, I truly appreciate their honesty. My mother forgot her credit card there yesterday and the staff called me instantly today morning and informed me of the loss, which is a different story altogether. We got back our credit card today though. That is still not going to change my mind about their beauticians' services, since as far as I am concerned, my skin is not really in safe hands, whenever I would reflect back and think of the damage incurred. Furthermore, the staff at the Lakme Salon lack the expertise needed to know the customers' skin well. I am unhappy with the services at the Lakme Salon.

Conclusion: Never go to this beauty parlor or you will come out looking a beast!
