There's something about LG products. All their products are durable, perform v well and have caught Indian customers' attention. When it comes to a brand that gives ultimate Value For Money, I feel no brand can match LG in India. I don't say their products are the best, but for the price you pay, no other brand can offer you better products than LG. One product line where LG is v strong is Mobile market. Both GSM and CDMA handsets are very good. One very fine example is LG RD 3330 purchased 2 yrs back.
Purchase: 2 yrs back, I needed a basic color handset for my Prepaid RIM Connection. I asked a shopkeeper for a good basic color CDMA handset. He showed this cute piece. With little suspicion I selected this mobile( had some faith as the 500 Rupees LG handset took nation by storm and was sturdy too).
Features & Performance**: Its features are:
Visually appealing slim design
Polyphonic ringtone and wallpaper download through Reliance Mobile World
SMS-on-call reject
LMS(Long messaging service)
SMS to e-mail
Airplane mode
Rhythmic backlight
Phone book stores up to 2, 000 entries
Polyphonic ringtones Supports Hindi menus and Hindi SMS. For the price I'd paid I think this handset is amazing. I've made and received calls seamlessly all over Karnataka in roaming and hardly have any calls dropped(even if Reliance network's good, the handset also should be good enuf to receive it). Its in built 19 ringtones are quite melodious to hear. It has 2000 contacts memory(each having 4 fields+ memo+ email ID+ Ringtone preference) and 99 speed dial locations(assign a specific no for a contact and depress it for 2 sec- the call's connected to that particular #*!). It's possible to send emergency eMails too from SMSes. Other features include Scheduler, To Do, Memo, Reserved Call, Alarm, Stopwatch, Calculator, Unit & Currency Convertor, World Clock, R-WORLD, Games etc. Its actual battery was bad but when I replaced it with a heavy duty 950 mAh battery the backup's strong - lasts 3 days for usual conversations. What more does one need from a basic 2000 Rupee handset? Thanks to LG-Reliance combo their handsets are v good though basic.
LG Brand(my opinion): Not only in the mobile market, but also in other products like CRT & LCD TVs, Home Theatres, Microwave ovens, Washing Machines, Refrigerators etc., LG has captured the market becoming the largest selling brand in India(selling one product in every 5 seconds!). 10 years back LG made a humble entry into India when BPL and Onida were the #1 brands. But after carefully assessing and studying the Indian Consumer Market, they overthrew established brands like BPL, Philips and Onida becoming Numero Uno - this is something amazing indeed. I recently bought 2 more LG handsets(RD 3000 -fell inside water yet working fine(!) & GSM handset GB105) and an LG Washing Machine - all these are performing v. well. Above all, LG products are inexpensive compared to its competitors. LG Mobiles may not be strong in India but in Europe they have a huge market share. My friend works as Quality Testing Engineer in LG, Noida. He says LG designs, tests and develops its products for Indian conditions, Indian humidity, Indian dust-level, Indian temperature and above all Indian Customers' satisfaction. So, I will not hesitate to say that LG is the best "Value For Money*" brand in India. What about you?
Conclusion: Want value for money, Long Life and good performance? Go for LG Mobile.
