It is really tough to understand my frustration because my LG 8083 Microwave Oven has just stopped working. The worst thing is that the warranty expired 20 days ago:-(
My first experience with a microwave oven hasn't been really great. When we decided to purchase an oven last year, I wanted to go for Samsung or Onida as they were priced lower and looked better. However, my wife insisted that we buy an "expensive one" like 8083 and remain happy forever.
After the purchase, we struggled hard to get the service guys to come to our home and give us a demo. Repeated complaints over phone and email failed to bring the service guys. Finally good sense prevailed over LG and(feeling pity on our condition) they sent a service guy to give us a 10 minute demo(almost 1.5 months after purchase).
This oven is full of features - Microwave, Grill, Convection, and Combo modes. You even have a rotiserrie(though it makes no sense for a pure vegetarian like me) that can be used for grilling meat. The preset combinations are also good and useful. Fast Cook feature is also good and allows you to heat tea, coffee, roast papad quickly without pressing many buttons.
Having said that, the microwave oven suddenly stopped working yesterday. Now I am not sure what to do. The warranty period got over just 20 days ago and(as I have realized with my BPL Refrigerator) calling service center can be very expensive(especially if they tell you that the magnetron - the heart and soul of microwave - is no more).
Long ago, I read about a court case where the judge asked the company to repair the product free of cost even when the warranty period had just expired before the device stopped working. Looks like I will have to do the same with LG. A product that stops working just at the expiry of warranty period is a bad product and company must own responsibility.
