With a stubbornly stale drama that keeps marring scene after carefully-crafted scene, and a highly soporific script, the movie 'Krrish' does come with some formidable set of self-imposed odds. But it still succeeds, inspite of itself, managing to hold its sway with a rather fine and world-class display of technical craftsmanship, stunning visualization, and some sincere acting by Hrithik Roshan.

The concoction of a story, if one must go there at all, is quite puerile and laughable, and only serves as a poor excuse for incorporating all the songs and special effects. It unabashedly mixes two distinct Hollywood ideas (of ET and Superman, which themselves were flimsy excuses for special effects) while not acknowledging the same, and instead making matters worse with a rather daft claim of this being a sequel to an earlier, and similar effort, by this team. How funny!

The dichotomy raised by such projects is quite worth a making a note of. When one is willing to spend crores of rupees, and a lot of effort, in meticulously crafting such visual effects (for example, Santosh Thudiyil's eye-catching photography whose appeal outshines the lackluster content it is busy capturing), and in painstakingly assembling and managing an international crew of top talent, why not do the same for story and script?
