Actually my husband bought it for me and when he brought it home I had to admit that my first thought was ....
Acccch! Another gadget!
I've been using it for the past two years and I love it - what I enjoy most about that little camera is being able to take a shot out in nature and bringing it home to set up on the screen.
I can send my pictures around easily and show people things that I saw during the day. It came in handy when Themestream.com was going - I never ran out of subjects - there was always a picture of something.
It doesn't hold much memory, of course - 8 at the most, in decent resolution.
You can use an indoor light - doesn't flash - and you'll still get a picture.
It doesn't like too bright a light and in the same instance, it doesn't like light that's too low.
For day to day meandering around the city streets - it's a Godsend. We probably will get a higher model at some time, but I'd still keep snapping with this little gadget.
