Khaled Hosseini's Kite Runner is an inspiring tale of friendship, love, relationships and betrayal.
The story revolves around a young boy named Amir. He belongs to a rich family in the troubled areas of Afghanistan. His father's servant has a young boy of Amir's age named Hassan. They both are good friends. Initially the story revolves around these two friends and how their rich and poor conditions make them see things in a different perspective. Once when, Hassan is insulted and abused by Amir's rich father and Amir keeps quiet, the friendship between the two feels questioned. Why didnt Amir step up for his dear friend Hassan?
The story goes ahead to show how the two friends go on separate ways to USA, get married and how one progresses and the other fails.
The story touches various aspects of human relationships, be it a father-son, friend-friend, or a husband-wife. It opens up questions in one's mind as to what is right and what is wrong. The story does touch a few sensitive issues too.
Overall, a good read, but not one that can be completed in one go. I took a few days to complete the story.
Last Word: A good read! Recommending for the unique storyline!
