Story:

After quite a long time, I have really liked a book.(long time= 6 months)

Well, I wanted to read this one for a long time but didn't get time. And now I would say I should have read it way earlier.

In short, its a story about friends. Ahhh wait! There's more.

The story of Ali and his friend Hassan(son of father's servant}. It is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of Afghanistan's monarchy through the Soviet military intervention, the exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime.

But before all this, Afghanistan had been a beautiful country. They "lived" a life happily amidst greenery, in cold, a sunny day and the most importantly - kite flying. Hassan was one of the best kite runner(you can think so).

What Afghanistan seems to be today is nowhere near as depicted in this book. I fell in love with the place and then Taliban happened. And dream turned into reality.

Amir returns Afghanistan to take back Sohrab, Hassan's son, back to America(

who was living in an orphanage). And finds himself as a tourist in his birthplace. He can no longer take it as his own country.

Optimum use of local words. Can be, at times, a bit boring and long, but give it a shot, if you haven't, yet!
