The female flight attendants may well be hand-picked by the head-honcho, but it doesnt mean they are any good at their job. Staff a bit hit and miss - clearly picked for their looks rather than their
skills. A mouldy strawberry pudding was served up to me, and the attendant barely acknowledged it when I passed it back to her and didnt apologise or come up with anything by way of an apology.
Seats London - Bangalore stupidly narrow and very hard, but the grub was good other than the pudding. The choice of films is wide-ranging but seriously cheaped out, showing things like The Mask which is a fifteen year old film for crying out loud. It was very poor when you consider that Kuwait Airways are showing films six weeks out of the cinema.
The entertainment screens work off a wired-in remote control which is fixed into the left arm of the chair, which can then be popped out when you want to use it. Two minutes after sitting down I called the stewardess by accident after my thighs somehow pressed a button on this control. This is a serious problem on the A330 - the seats are much, much too narrow. Even skinny Indian customers filled the seats, let alone fatter and therefore wider Europeans. They are trying to be a truly International airline, but this is something which will cause them many problems.
Staff at London and Colombo were ignorant and rude. My father became really irate after the rude girl at Colombo LIED to us, having assured us we had the window, the aisle and the first seat across the aisle, only to find we were three abreast in the aisle seats. We are all tall and broad shouldered and this was totally unacceptable as we just didnt fit into the chairs. And none of us are morbidly obese. Their check-in staff are poorly trained and do not know about their own air-mile scheme and what airlines they work with on this scheme when we came to claim the points.
Bangalore airport is boring, nothing to do in the transit area, but its not a long stop-over to go on to Colombo (SL). Dont bother trying to bring water off the plane with you as their police are totally over the top, you have to go through security again, and they confiscated two small, SEALED, bottles of water I took to drink while we waited.
Flight Bangalore-Colombo was a scream. MUCH more comfortable seats on the smaller plane, the "snack" is in fact a whole meal, with free cans of Kingfisher beer, bottles of salted lemon juice, earphones and pens being dished out within minutes of getting on board. Very funny only because there isnt really time for all of this, and you dont really want a full dinner after the other flight. However, these staff were considerably better practiced and it was a very slick procedure.
On the way back, things were much the same as going out. Exactly the same films, music etc available in both directions which was rather poor.
The First Class seats looked very good, but we were in the cheap seats and they refused us an upgrade.
