I had to fly my father from a village in Gujarat to Hyderabad in a medical emergency. His condition was not critical at that time but it did become critical after around 12 hours (He has completely recovered
now!).
I had hired a cab to drive us to Mumbai airport and i had booked my tickets online right out of my house in the village. Absolutely zero hassels in ticketing. We had reached the airport two hours earlier to be on the safe side as it was a three hour car ride to the airport. I let the the ground staff know of my father condition and requested them to let us use their first class lounge (we were travelling economy). They let us use the lounge without any hesitation and without any additional charges (To be honest i would have paid if they had asked for it). They also told me they could arrange for the on duty doctor , we were however travelly after taking a doctors advise, so we declined.
They took care of the entire process there on for us. One of the staff gave me form to fill up to state my father condition and took the hassel of doing whatever necessary after that. One guy took care of the luggage, another came with a wheelchair and transferred my dad right onto the airline seat, going through a seperate line at security and in a waiting first class cab at the departure gate. Once we had landed there was another member of the staff waiting with a wheelchair who then escorted us in a car upto the arrival lounge , then again someone in a wheelchair who took us right upto a taxi outside the airport in Hyderabad.
I was really tense because I had never flown like this before but I must admit, Vijay Mallias in flight broadcast which says he has asked all his staff to treat customers as his personal guests is not just another gimmic. These guys actually deliver when it counts!! Anyone from Kingfisher airlines reading this, quote me wherever you want. Ill vouch for your hospitality!!
