I was very surprised at how splendid the remake of Merian Cooper, and Ernest Schoedsack’s1933
King Kong turned out, Peter Jackson’s 2005 (Titanic) remake of King Kong is much
better than the 1933 production of King Kong. The super ingredients of sophisticated high technology and modern technology certainty makes a big difference. While I did not see this movie in the theater, but my newly built home theater of an LCD projector-LCD screen, and an excellent surround Dolby sound system certainty compensated for my viewing pleasure. I have no regrets of renting this movie and I will add it to my movie collection. It’s an excellent movie and the best I’ve seen this year.
This 2005 remake of
King Kong is written, and directed by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Peter Jackson. The running time for this movie is 3:00 and released in 2005.
The movie begins when a defrocked actress, Ann Darrow portrayed by Naomi Watts is forced to find work elsewhere. When she is spotted stealing a piece of fruit from a fruit stand a movie producer notices her beauty, and deceives to include her in his next movie production. This movie producer and his entourage of writers, cast, and a ship crew begin a movie production and journey on Skull Island. The movie producer, Carl Denham portrayed by Jack Black believes there’s something mystically huge on Skull Island and fame, and fortune awaits him and his entourage. When this team gets to Skull Island their adventure becomes a butchery life threatening journey and adventure when they encounter the unusual. Their first stop on Skull Island leads them to an old ancient tribal ground of African Natives, which proves to be dangerous. A group of natives kill a few crewmembers and give the female actress up for the ultimate sacrifice; she’s given to the beast of Skull Island a giant Gorilla whose survival depends on eating the flesh of humans, animals.
Its occasional appetite for wheat barely and green herbs is just as hearty. Skull Island is a frightening place because of its inhabitants, giant prehistoric Dinosaurs, Brontosaurs, and insects that hunt and kill their prey. Life for any human being or animal on Skull Island is an uncertainty. Its not only the other forms of life on this island that makes life so threatening. Its the inhabitant of an unusual giant Gorilla that shakes the islands way of life and strikes fear in everything and everyone on it. When the female actress is given to the gorilla a sensational and moving bound develops between them. Their bound turns into a joyous, and fun relationship when she plays with the Gorilla, and unknowingly touches the core of its emotions.
Later the team of movie directors capture the Gorilla and brings it to New York City for an exhibition and Broadway performance calling it KONG KING THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD. Carl Denham’s dreams of wealth and fame is accomplished until things run amuck at the performance. When King Kong, the Gorilla discovers his friend, Ann is not there with him coupled with the flashing bulbs of cameras that frightens him. King Kong breaks away, and runs amuck destroying everything and everyone around him, tearing up New York City until he sees Ann, the woman that captured his heart on Skull Island. Meanwhile the army is called to destroy King Kong. His escape to the Empire State Building will touch your heart.
Final Thoughts After watching this 2005 remake of
King Kong I was just taken back with words and viewing pleasure. This movie has so much going for it. For starters, the visuals of Skull Island and New City are beautiful, superb special effects, action scenes, sound effects, very realistic looking animals, and insects are brilliantly done. While the movie is a bit slow in the preamble however, once the voyagers reach Skull Island then the viewer is in for an enthusiastic and surprising cinematic treat. Sitting through this movie for three hours becomes unnoticeable, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Theres never a dull moment in this movie. Acting by the cast is excellent, and the cinematography is breath taking. The appearance of the movies character King Kong is very realistic looking and a bit frighting.
As you watch this motion picture you will see Jacksons heartfelt direction when focusing on a giant and brutally dangerous wild primate who reveals touching moments of vulnerability, and emotion as it falls in love with a human woman. Its romantic moments at Central Park, holding captive the love of its life while sliding on ice are most touching. Its final hours of life on top of the Empire State building truly invokes heart touching moments that almost brought me to tears. This excellent remake of
King Kong is indeed an excellent achievement for director, Peter Jackson, and writers Fran Walsh, & Philippa Boyens and a host of talented visual artists and technicians with a wonderful gift for special effects, use of modern technology, and the fine arts. The cast does an excellent job with acting, and the cinematography is exceptionally executed with brilliance.
The bottom line is Peter Jacksons remake of
King Kong is superb youre in for a treat.
King Kong gets 5 stars it’s a must see.
