Hardly had I neared the small cross road behind Johnson market that the unmistakable aroma of meat cooking in a ginger-garlic marinade and jeera rice lingered in the air. The shutters were not yet open, but few eager beavers had already settled down on the step.
To catch people waiting for a restaurant to open while the afternoon's offering is still on the fire was a positive indicator. I decided to join the crowd. Today, more than two years since then that wait has proved worthwhile.
The soft veal in the light ginger-garlic marinade flavoured rice is the only biriyani in town that our five year old eats without a complaint. A truly, back- to -the basics dish.
This is not a place for ambiance. But then, there is no charge for the ambiance either.
