Man I can’t believe nobody’s written a review about this movie. This is one of the best movies in indian cinema. The songs, the acting I think people forgot about this movie, well not
me. This is probably subhash ghai’s best attempt in bollywood. It stars sanjay dutt, jackie shroff, madhuri dixit, raakhe.
Khalnayak starts with raakhe waiting for his son Ballu Balram (sanjay dutt) to arrive at the train station, who has not been home in 7 years, but still she wait for him. Then she finds out that her son is arrested by the police and has been sentenced to jail for 20 years.
Ram Sinha (jackie shroff) was the police officer who arrests him. Ballu is beaten a lot in the jail and asked questions about that who is boss and who does he work for. Ram sinha is love with ganga (madhuri dixit) who is a sub inspector in a another jail.
Balu runs away from jail and ganga goes after ballu to get him. ganga tells ballu that she is a dancer and she joins his gang. Ballu already knew she was a police officer because he had seen her identity car in her briefcase. He starts using her and even threatens to kill ganga when the police tries to catch ballu. Ballu is changed a lot by ganga.
Ballu’s lifes flash back begins ballu balram (sanjay dutt) wasn’t a criminal, when he graduated from college got his diploma he couldn’t get a job. His own father was a lawyer, but wouldn’t help his son to get a job anywhere. Balu felt like he was worthless, then he entered the wrong world. Balu starts working for roshni mahanta. Roshi mahanta had killed ballu’s father and sister because they were protesting against roshni mahanta. Ballu balram was brainwashed by roshi mahanta that police had killed his dad and his sister. Balu shoots his first bullet at a police commissioner and kills him.
Ram sinha finds ballu’s mother and finds out that ballu is his long lost friend from childhood. At one time ballu meets his mother (raakhe) and she tells him that ram sinha is his childhood friend he doesn’t believe her and thinks it’s set up.
Ballu falls in love with ganga and even tells her, but ganga tells him that she is engaged to ram sinha (jackie shroff). Ballu get’s heart broken and starts to hate ganga, because ram sinha is his enemy.
Ganga saves ballu from the police at one time and ballu runs away and ganga is arrested and sentenced to jail for 10 years. Ballu finds out who the killer of his sister is and in attempt ballu tries to murder roshi mahanta and ballu is beaten by his men.
Then enter’s jackie shroff who is in search of roshni mahanta for so many years and and he kills roshi mahanta. ballu is saved by his men and he becomes the boss now. Ballu finds out that ganga is sentenced jail for 10 years because of him. watch the movie to find out what he does. Does he go to save her or no.
The songs in the movie are very good this movie’s song sold more then 2 crore albums in india. Probably the most popular song from movie choli ke peeche kya hai, which was huge hit in that when the movie came out.
performance wise= madhuri dixit does a very good job. The best thing about her is her laugh. She and sanjay dutt looks pretty good together. jackie shroff gives a another performance to remember in this movie. He’s shown as an honest police officer who will do anything to save his country. The scene when he’s on the phone with roshi mahanta that’s the scene to watch. The scene in the jail when he beats up sanjay dutt. raakhe gives a another good performance she does go overboard sometimes. She cares about the people in the movie to much. Roshi mahanta is a stand out he gives probably his best performance in this movie he did came in couple other movies but was wasted.
The show stealer in this movie is sanjay dutt, the movie would be incomplete by the deadly dutt, who was in the bombblasting cases when that movie released, he went to jail right after t he movie had realeased. The mad hair style and big beard matched his character in the movie to much. The funny part was when he shaves looks hella funny.
Sanjay dutt was nominated for best actor for khalnayak, but the award was given to shahrukh for baazigar. Sanjay dutt deserved the award for khalnayak, but he was in jail and lost all of his popularity due to the bombblast case on him. Watch this movie and be amazed by the one and only dutt. 10 out of 10
