?Curling swirls of mist, encroaching slowly over private space, calls forth the beauty-awakened paradise, what beckons is what is desired.
Echoed the peaks, with its lush green voice, calls forth
romance of nature with man.
For a moment of ecstasy what better place to choose than, untainted Munnar??.Sheena

Extensive tea plantations, winding lanes, scenic landscape, exotic flora Munnar is a Paradise located in South India around the Annamalai. Munnar, gives an amazing view of craggy peaks and manicured tea estates is a dream, covered in mist.

The confluence of three rivers - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala gives Munnar its name (Arr meaning River; Mun meaning Three). Attracts many tourists from India and abroad. You can rent a jeep/car for sightseeing.

Places of interest are:

The Idukki Arch Dam built across the Kuravan and Kurathi hills is Asia’s first arch dam. Wildlife Sanctuary is located close to it. The lush greenery and the mist, Pothamedu invites anybody to stroll around the lanes, tea, coffee and cardamom plantations, offering an excellent view.
Enclosed by the rich jungles of Periyar in Thekkady is one of the world’s most fascinating natural wildlife reserves - the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River, attracts wild elephants who come down to visit the artificial lake, a must see for the wildlife freaks.

The Watch Towers - at Edappalayam and Manakkavala give you a spectacular view of the hill station. Specialized diary farms that have around 100 varieties of yielding cattle in Mattupetty, also has a lake and dam close by, a very scenic and an ideal for a picnic.
Pallivasal is the venue of the first Hydro Electric Project in Kerala and a place of immence scenic beauty. The Sita Devi lake, known for its mineral quality located in Devikulam is picturesque, and another picnic spot.

Echo Point- as the name suggests, echoes sounds it is on the way to Top Station ( highest point) from Munnar.

Munnar has a panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills ? some of the best falls among the rest would be Attukal, located between Munnar and Pallivasal; Nyayamakad, located between Munnar and Rajamala the water cascades from a breath taking height of 1600 meters and Power House Waterfall on the way to Thekkady from Munnar cascades down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level.

Eravikulam National Park and the Rajamala Sanctuary have kept natural habitats intact. Rajamala which is 2695 m above sea level, has rare species of mountain goats or tahr which is fast becoming extinct.

A wonderful trip through the valleys, mist covered hills, winding rivers, mesmerising falls and aromatic tea plantations! Breath taking trip wasn’t it?
