The place is just a short stretch of beach between Alibaug and Murud. In fact, if you do not pay attention to the signs, you may miss it totally. This one of the best beaches in this part of Maharashtra.
Its white sand makes this beach different from the golden sand found elsewhere in the region.
The approach to this beach (after ISPAT, from Alibaug) is simply amazing. The best time to visit the beach is, of course, the rains when the greenery is at its best, and the sunsets are out-of-the-world.
The beach is usually uncrowded making it an ideal spot for a quiet romantic stay and for honeymooners.
The accommodation, however, is not as good. You have the Kashid Beach Resort w
hich is superlative. But once this is full, there is not much to choose from. Another irritant (for busybodies) is lack of any mobile phone signal in the area. Also when I was last there (Sep 2005) there were traces of an oil slick on the beach, making it difficult to wash feet after a dip in the water.
