There are a number of good writeups on Kasauli here and my idea in writing this is just to complement them and to give certain tips which will be useful for people going there on a weekend trip.

Well,
there were certain things which i was not aware of when i started my journey. The travel websites will provide you standard information like the height of the place, places to visit, etc. But there are certain things they dont tell you.First and foremost i thought Kasauli is just 35 kms from Kalka and the temperature cant vary greatly.Wrong! It is as cold as shimla and one should carry woollens.

Also be prepared for a shock when the not too friendly taxi union fellow at kalka tell you that it cost Rs 1100 to cover a distance of 35 Kms!You have the option to travel by train from kalka to dharampur and then a take a taxi or even a local bus to Kasauli which is 12 km away.

Iif you are walking to the monkey point all the way from the hotel ,please remember to leave the camera and mobile at the hotel itself as the Airforce personnel at the security gate wont allow you to carry these neither will they keep it for you.
There are not many good restaurants here. The ’’punjabi rasoi ’’ is a place which you should avoid. They serve old and stale food at deluxe rates. The wet canteen   near the traffic barrier at the lower mall is ok .If you are looking for simple food at great economy, Adarsh dhaba is rcommended.Dont forget to add your comments in the guest book proudly maintained by the owner of this very ordinary looking eatery.

Those who want to do nothing on a holiday but enjoy the nature will defenitely like this place.

Type of Travel: Road Trip

Average Expenditure: Budget (less than Rs.1000/day)
Group Size: Less than five
Best Suited For: Couples
