Karisma Kapoor entered in a forbidden profession.Entering films was not easy for her at a tender age of 15.She was rejected immediately by the media n film fraternity.Her European looks didnt go well with
the audiences,who at that time were used to seeing actresses who looked Indian n portrayed roles that were
conventional.Actresses like Madhuri Dixit n Sridevi ruled the roost in the 90’s.
The one thing that went against her was that she was Kapoor Khandan’s daughter n not son;had she been a male she would have found support instantly.Prime example,Abishek Bachchan who was very well received by the industry because of his famous father,the industry supported him through thick n thin,for four years
he gave constantly gave 14 flops before giving a hit film in 2004.
Despite all these set backs,the blue eyed girl worked harder and her first success came in the form of Raja Babu 1993,though the credit went to Govinda still Karisma was noticed by David Dhawan,then began a series of hit films with Govinda like Raja Babu,Khuddar,Coolie No#.1,Sajan Chale Susral,Hero No#1 n so on.
But she was critically acclaimed for the first time in Raja Hindustani for which she also won her first filmfare award n there after her position as an actress who was ready to claim Madhuri Dixit’s crown consolidated.She only grew stronger with films like Dil To Pagal Hai,Biwi No.1,Haseena Maan Jayegi,Fiza,Zubeidaa,Shakti.
Karisma had great onscreen chemistry with not one but three actors Govinda,Salman n Akshay Kumar.
After Madhuri Dixit n Tabu,Karisma is an actress who has made it big through her hard work,sincerity n dedication.Hats off to her!She has shown industry that a daughter can also make her parents proud just like the sons.
