When I ran out of kesar episodes to watch on my exercise bike, I decided to beam off the planet with this one. it is seriously crazy. I dont resent not using my brain for the kesar serial, because there is something innately charming, innocent, and harmless about it. but with this one, we are not in kansas anymore, toto. it is seriously messed up. in the beginning, it was fun because of the promise of a ghostie. well, that died (the promise, silly, not the ghostie!). then, I liked the kunal sikand look-alike truck driver, but now, I believe that character is gone. I still enjoy Nisha's visiting mother from chandigarh. her spoofing keeps things real and in perspective. but the character of shaina is fading, from a very strong woman, almost a protagonist, into a cliched goodwoman. bizzare! the thing I find most unconvincing is she cannot tell if she is living with her husband!!! I was more convinced of the situation when I encountered the dilemma in "mme. butterfly." That I believe; this I find impossible. I also dont really understand why ramola sikand poses such a threat. the character is also too cliched, though I fail to see how her presence incites such terror in everyone. the plot, though repeatedly whipped, remains dead. the dynamic between the women has given way to the dynamic between the stepson and the stepmother. I dont know if it will be sustained. seems to be losing momentum. however, it is the one object that speaks to me in a language I apprehend (comprehend is too strong a word). I see overtones of fairytales (snow white and juniper tree), which is what I enjoy. the characters are unconvincing, and the situations are bizzare. but that's why I watch it. as the plot gets increasingly claustrophobic, I hope that I shall be more relieved to go back to my reality. however, this is not my favoirte show. it has too many dark corners, and too few monsters. let there be light, say
