I've been a fan of sports motorcycles for a long time. I always wanted to own one whenever I watched the Moto GP on TV. Years passed by as got busy with my profession and I almost forgot about my dream. Then a couple of years back I was in Pune for my fellowship I noticed that KTM has come to India by means of Bajaj. Sadly there were no Bajaj probiking dealerships in Patna so I had no choice but to continue to ride my RE Electra 350.
6 months back while surfing the KTM India website I saw that they have a dealer in Patna. In OCT 2014 I visited the dealership and saw a solo duke 200. Test ride was not available so just sat on it to get a feel of the riding posture. At that time I was not impressed with the bike and more importantly with the attitude of the dealer. I asked him to inform me when test ride for RC was available. In January 2015 a friend of mine(whom I had deputed for poking the dealer every week:p) told me that a RC was seen at the showroom. I went in to find that it was RC 200 and I was more interested in RC 390 for obvious reasons. After some persuation I got the test rde of RC200. I found the riding position to be very aggressive but still enjoyed the power delivery of the bike. Still was not sure how RC 390 would feel so I returned. On 28th Jan 2015 again went to the dealership, and booked RC390, without even knowing how it would feel to ride the real thing(This was more of a decision made by instincts rather than brains).
The booking amount was 30000 and waiting period of 6-8 weeks. Gave the dealer the cheque and the wait started.
On 3rd April recieved a call from the KTM Patna dealer that my bike has arrived and can be taken. I asked him to prepare the bike for delivery on 6th April 2015.
On 6th april I saw my RC390 and this was the first time I had seen a rc390. Completed the formalities, filled up the tank and got ready to feel the bike.
The dealership experience was not the best. I was only give a copy of delivery challan. They doidnt even gave me the owners manual and the insurance cover note. Anyways I was so excited that these things did not matter at that time as I badly wanted to ride the bike. I was given the insurance covernote and the owners manual on 16th april and guess what the registration number on the insurance covernote was of a different series than the reg no they had given me on the date of delivery.
