Last week, we had a trip to Ooty. SInce we did not want a package trip, we approached Badami House for help. It was for three days. We were booked for KSTDC Mayura Sudarshan at Fern Hill.
We left by Volvo Airavat at 10:00 AM sharp on Thursday. The bus stopped for lunch after Nanjangud. The Hotel there was horrible for Vegetarians. It was infested with flies. We lived on Bread and Jam. We reached Ooty by 5:3 AM. The journey was very pleasant and both the driver and the conductor were courteous. The hotel itself was almost on the outskirts. The auto guy demanded Rs. 150/-. We checked into the hotel. The roams were NOT good. There weer no door mats. The showers were broken. The catering wing was also not clean. In addition, the caretaker(I think his name was Uday kumar) was not at all courteous. He was rude. He was not ready to help us. He was almost yelling at us. I think this is not called in for in the hospitality industry. We were told that the hotel would take care of our sight seeing. But we got a rude shock when we were told to find out our self. We had to pay Rs. 1200/- per day for the sight seeing.
Anyways, we had sight seeing the next day and had to leave the hotel on Saturday. We checked into Preethi Palace which was in the town. It was a decent hotel and the travel desk there helped us to visit Coonor and other places.
The return journey on Sunday was horrible. The so called Corona was almost crawling. We left Ootty at 10:00 AM and reached Bangalore by 8:00 PM. The bus seats were not at all comfortable.
I think for those of you who can afford can bring their own vehicles from bangalore and even can book hotels online. This will save the unpleasant and rude encounters with the staff.
