I studied B.Com through K.J.Somaiya College. Its a 3 year programme with 6 papers every year. The syllabus is as mandated by Mumbai University which is more of bookish knowledge. Hence the classroom lectures were always very boring.
However cannot blame college for that. Quality of faculty was average, there were few good professors, however they were more inclined towards personal coaching classes, hence would solicit students for the same.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE & INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE SSI:No such programs were offeredPLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK SSI:
It had worst campus placement program. No Companies had ever approached our college. However position may have changed now(Have no idea). No such network.
INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION SSI:Somaiya have one of the biggest campus in Mumbai. They have 7 colleges and 2 schools inside the campus. They also have 2-3 grounds for sports activity, however quality of the sports material / equipment was very poor. They have recently created a international level jogging track. Somaiya college is very well connected to all parts of the city. There are 3 railway stations near to the college(Vidyavihar / Ghatkopar / Tilak Nagar). Outside the College there is a bus stop connecting all parts of the city. Students can also easily get an Auto or Taxi from outside the college. Students travelling by Car also need not worry as it has ample parking space.
STUDENT HOUSING & FOOD SSI:
They have hostel facility in the campus but have never visited, so cannot comment about it. Within the campus there are about 4-5 canteen with ample Veg options at a very reasonable price. Outside college too there are lot of fast foods joints and roadside food options. And Mumbai city is very famous for variety of cuisines and restaurants. Hence food will never an issue for students.
CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS SSI:
Somaiya college do not promote sports culture. Normally students play for recreational purpose. The quality of the sports material / equipment is also very poor.
