This is an older movie that my children got for Christmas a few years ago. After all of this time they still enjoy it. Many times when there is nothing on television, this is a movie of choice for them. Robin Williams does some wonderful acting in this film.

As a young boy, Alan Parish discovers a board game. This was no ordinary board game, it had mysterious powers. Unfortunately, Alan did not realize this until he was magically transformed into the jungles of Jumanji. This is where he would stay for the next twenty-six years until he was freed from the games spell by two more children who were unaware of the games powers. Alan (Robin Williams) is now home and he reunites with Sara (Bonnie Hunt), who is the childhood friend who he was playing the game with as a child. The two of them join together with Judy (Kirsten Dunst) and Peter (Bradly Pierce), who are the children who found the game and began to play, to try to outwit the games forces.

During the course of the film, a once ordinary home and town transform into a virtual jungle. Monkeys are running wild and taking over the town. Jungle plants over take what was once the Parish home and now the home of Judy and Peter. Each new role of the dice brings out a new creature and a new adventure. When Peter tries to cheat the game, he himself begins to change into a monkey. No matter what the disaster or what new problem may arise, one thing is for sure. These four must finish the game. This is the only way that the town will return to normal. This is the only way that the Parish family will realize how much they love and need each other. And, this is the only way Judy and Peter will ever see their parents again. Alas, indurance wins out and the final dice are trown. The game is won and Jumangi is done. The town and the Parish home returns to normal. Mr. and Mrs. Parish return home from an evening out (just as it had been some twenty-six years ago), Adam is a child again, and all is normal. Years later, Adam and Sarah would marry and have children of their own. Adam would fulfill his destiny and run the family business. Judy and Peter would come back into Adam and Sarah's life again when their parent would come to work for them. The future was changed and Judy and Peters parents would not die in an accident in Canada, The Parish's would be a loving family, and Adam could right his childhood wrongs.

If you have an evening with nothing to do, you need to sit and watch this movie. It combines wonderful special effects, with an incredible combination of comedy, magic, and thrills.
