Johnnie Walker Black Label wasnt always known by that name:originally it was called’’.. Extra Special Old Highland ..’’but the name was changed to Black Label in 1905. It is actually the top selling de luxe Scotch whisky in the world and was reputedly the favourite whisky of British statesman Sir Winston Churchill. It is a very smooth drink and has something of an enigmatic character in my view. That first sip leaves you with a strong curiosity to sample more. As its taste unfolds a wide mix of flavours are unravelled. There is a hint of silky richness,then rather deep and fruity foreground and these give way to drier peaty tastes. This is followed by the complementary flavours of vanilla and raisins.
These unique flavours are the result of blending a diverse range of malt whiskies,each of which has been matured for some 12 years. In total up to 40 malts and grain whiskies are blended to make up this fine drink. A glass of Black Label on the rocks,perhaps, accompanied by a fine cigar is to me a highly satisfying experience. It is such an interesting whisky to get to know and is smooth and very polished. In my opinion one of the finest blended whiskies in the market and it seems I am not alone as it is a huge seller,all over the world.This fine whisky is full of character and has long achieved international fame among whisky connoisseurs. It has a consistent flavour and a quality that can always be relied upon.
