Jogva is a great movie. It has following positive points:

  1. The storyline is positive. The love story is really heart warming. The scene where hero tells heroine "it is better to die in "sansar" than rust in this "Bhandara"." is awesome. It indeed is the truth. You cannot live the way society wants you to live. You have got to live your own life, your own way.

  2. The dialogues are also superb. I never thought that Marathi movies in which dialogues used to be cheap word-based will evolve so well. Dialogues of the male character who accompanies hero are fabulous, few of them are:

"Where was government when my "kamar" was "used"?"

"When I see a man's eyes falling on my wet body, my mind becomes very light."

"I cannot live without men and daaru."

"When I was young, men around me used to take me out of village, used to feed me something and used to take away my "saree" and do it. After some time I started liking it."

  1. These jogwas are for real. The story happens in Southern Maharashtra or Northern Karnataka. Goddess Yellamma is worshipped in these areas. It is also believed that Yellamma is the goddess of Third Gender. All Hijras worship a form of goddess Yellamma. This touch of reality also adds like anything. The jogwas are supposed to be worshipper of goddess. They have no personal life of their own. But in reality society uses them. Most of the times the use is in the form of sexual use. Jogwas are used for homosexual satisfaction and jogtins are used as prostitutes. It tells us that India is no real different from Afghanisthan. In that country women have very rigid rules to follow but here in India even men must also follow rigid rules.

  2. Upendra LImaye: The hero is a great actor. His face in scenes where heroine starts liking someone else is awesome. He has played the role of "sahansheel" man very very very well. Frankly, you feel sympathy for him.

  3. Music: The Song "Lallati Bhandar" is addictive. I loved it. Even the music otherwise is also good.

  4. Camera: The camera is used quite well. Marathi movies have evolved superbly about use of camera.

  5. Sexual scenes: The movie is also surprisingly rich in scenes where sex is suggested. It clearly gives indication that homosexuality is very rampant in Indian society.

  6. Lastly it arouses quite number of questions. Who says in India or even in Hindus sexual abuse does not happen? Or for that matter why should we really feel that our country is really great?

It is in our country boys are made Hijdas. In no other country you will find Hijra per se. Only in Indian sub-continent eunuchs are rampant. Jogwas, Hijras, Natakshala, Anga-vastra, Ganika, Nachya, Devdasis, Jogtins etc are nothing but object of sexual pleasure for Hindus.

We Hindus are abusive people. The story is about a man and a woman fighting this abuse.

Regards,

Vasudeo
