This is entirely a director’s movie. Do not watch this movie with history per se. You have to watch this movie with a attitude like : A romantic love story between two people - a princess named Jodhaa
and the king named Akbar. Then its really a visual feast to watch.
Dissecting the movie with a historic view points yields nothing. All that matters in this movie is the SOUND TRACK - AR Rahman proves it again that he is the Father of Indian Contemporary Music. The second positive point in this movie is the sizzling on-screen chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya - do I need to say this again after that so-evident Dhoom2.
There is nothing much of a storyline in this movie. Yet, it has been directed well and Ashutosh Gowarikar needs a huge round of appalause for pulling out this movie with great confidence amidst so many controversies surrounding its authenticity.
A surpirse package in the movie is Sonu Sood, the one who plays Jodhaa’s brother. Though he has a small role to play, he had done it to the extent of catching one’s attention. After a couple of negative roles in South Indian movies, he was a revelation in this role.
Watch this movie just like you have watched DDLJ or any other movie of that genre and not as a period film or history. I am sure you would love the movie.
