In the film Jodha-Akbar, Ashutosh Gowarikar,
to cater to his international audiences, has shown
Hindu kings of period in low esteem and has
pampered&;his characters led
by
Akbar. Not only Rajputs have been insulted giving references of Akbar Nama and Aaine Akbari
but
Hemu, also called
Hemu Vikramaditya or
Samrat Hem Chander Vikramaditya, a Hindu king who had won 22 battles before acceeding to Delhi throne on 7th Oct. 1556,
after 350 years offoreign rule, is shown in poor light as a villen, obviously ,on the basis of
Akbarnama and
Aaineakbari. He had gone to the Panipat war as a
Vikramaditya King. In the film Akbar and Bairam Khan are shown in the war zone and
Bairam Khan is shown fighting with a sword, however, according to many books, Akbar and Bairam Khan had not come to the war zone at all. They were stationed at a distance of about
15 Kilo Metres from Panipat with the instructions that they should run off to Kabul, in case the war is lost.
The factually incorrect movie, with delibrate
attempts to pamper Akbar and his rule gives a bad impression of director Ashtosh Gowarikar.
If it was a fiction, Director should not have used the name of the
Great Hindu Emperor HemuVikramaditya so cheaply and perpetuated untruths to pamper Mugals. And if was to be a movie from History, Ashutosh should have done a research on subjects. Mugal writers like
Abul Fazal have not given the true account of history. Britishers have still tried to give balanced account, however, the
director has chosen Mugal writingsin order to please his audiences in 26 countries, where he released the movie simultaneously.
Cast has done justice to their roles. Ash and Rithik both look good.Music and sets are good. Overall movie left a
tormenting effect on me.
