Hritik Roshan is one of the most handsome man in today’s bollywood and Aishwaraya Rai is the most beautiful woman. Take these 2 good looking actors together along with a very beautiful and enchanting visual camera work, its Jodha Akbar, presented to us by very talented,capable director Ashutosh Gowariker. This is reason enough for me to watch this movie. Add to that history and romance, its beautiful combination.

The plot of this movie is journey of 13 year old Jalaludin Mohammad to become a king of masses and named Akbar. On the way to get married a princess from other religion for the peace and kingdom.
How earns respect of fellow defeated kings, makes justice for the people who have betrayed him.

Its also journey of a hindu princess Jodha who is engaged to other prince and was forced to sacrifice her life by marrying a muslim king. How she stands up for her religion after marriage, how she stands up to a surrogate mother-in-law who tries to spoil the marriage and finally how he shows way to Akbar to become King of masses by capturing their heart. In the process she gets love of her husband.

Though its mixture of war and love. Some scenes are very bloody in battles. Love scenes are very subtle and sweet.

Hritik Roshan leaves a lasting impression as Great king Akbar. He looks, acts speaks like a king. He is very well suited for the role. Particularly I liked his well muscled body and a very deep voice.

Aishwarya Rai is too beautiful and she comes out as very graceful, sweet yet determined Jodha. A special mention here for her costumes and jewelery. Jewelery is real and too big look a real princess or a queen should wear and Aish is able to carry it very well. And the clothes along with her too transparent gunghat to show her beautiful face, makeup , jewelery, her hair-do is too worth mentioning. Its good and eye catching and adds to beauty of aish and movie. Acting wise I felt as was able to do justice to role.


Ila Arun as cunning surrogate mother is impressive. Poonam Sinha (Shartugan Sinha’s wife) plays role of Akbar’s real mother is okay. Sonu sood makes a mark as Jodha’s beloved brother. Other character artists are well supporting the movie, as always is the case with an ashutosh movie.

I loved Jashne Bahara song very much. Its soothing with good lyrics. ’Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah’ was also good. But otherwise i felt some of the songs were just making the movie lengthy. Kwaja song, i felt like laughing watching expression of two three persons in the second row of the singer. their expressions were funny and even when Hritik comes and joins them for Sufi dance it looks very forced.

Good scenes I liked
1) Sword fight of Jodha with Akbar and also of Jodha with her bro.
2) Sword practice of Akbar
3) The Saltwala scene during the food prepared by Jodha
4) The superb palace scene at  entry of Jodha in her new home after marriage (basically the palace)

One flow :
Jodha had never seen Akbar’s sister then how she is able to identify her when she meets her before the last battle.

At times it becomes boring particularly in the songs. The editing should have been more crisp. It could have been short by 20 mins.

Overall a visual treat to watch. Its beautiful, elegance, grand sets, good acting makes it a must watch movie for movie lovers who don’t mind long movies. For me it didn’t matter if its true or false, its just story presented by Ashutosh.
