Since this is one of the wanted reviews on MS, I am pretty surprised. With so many die hard AK fans on MS, coupled with the fact that this was truly one of the best movies in Bollywoods history,
this really comes as news to me that this movie lacks enough reviews. Anyways, I will add my two cents.
To me, JJWS was one of its kind. It had plenty to offer to the entire family. It was a well made, decently shot, and sharply directed movie with no room for error. Everything was done to perfection, be it the realistically nail-biting bicycle races or be it the awesome music. Performances, needless to say were much more than even first rate.
JJWS is about two brothers (Mamik and Aamir) who are from a lower middle class family. Mamik, the olde bro, battles it out with Deepak Tijoris character, which is that of a higher class student who looks down upon students from low grade colleges such as those of Mamik and Aamir. However, Deepaks biggest envy against Mamik is the latters awesome bicycle racing skills. Deepak though, uses his art to cheat to defeat Mamik and shatter his dream of becoming the inter-college champion. Not only that, Deepak inflicts career threatening injuries to Mamik so that there is no immediate opponent left to challenge his title in future. Mamiks careless younger bro Aamir is Deepaks last guess due to the formers nature. Aamir is is love with a high class girl (Pooja Bedi). For her, he leaves all his loved ones, even his true admirer (Ayesha Jhulka) and even forfeits his true identity in front of her. However, as soon as truth is revealed to Pooja, she begins hating him and Aamir finds out that his only path to success is being himself and defending his own family values.
Aamir enters the race on his injured brothers behalf and the climax is for all to follow (though I know many of you have already caught this amazing movie many times and that too a while ago)!
The technique of the movie is absolutely splendind and needless to say, the movie is near perfect.
Udits rendition of Pehla Nasha not surprisingly made him the official voice of Aamir. The brilliantly sung song became a sensation and continues to live into the hearts of many music lovers till date, even after a decade and a half of the movies release.
Among the cast, everyone does justice to their part. Aamir Khan is first rate and this movie proves why he went on to become such a mega star later on. Deepak Tijori is his perfect foil and this is one of Deepaks only appreciable performances, indicating that he couldve been better off as a villain than a hero as well as the flop director that he has now become. Ayesha Jhulka is likeable while Pooja Bedi is passable. The rest of the supporting cast is efficient too. However, the one who steals the show is the graceful Mamik. Mamik comes into his own in this movie and proves why he was another actor wasted big time by Bollywood.
Overall, a fantastic movie that needs no further recommendation from me, or anyone else for that purpose.
Do RRC plzzzzzzzzz,
Capt!
