I am not going to wax eloquent on the oft repeated praises on Jet. my review is specific to the food served on Jet and the passenger comfort, and cabin crew...in that order.
1. Food: I really
do blv that food on this airline could be better. Very often I end up flying out of Mumbai in the morning, and returning the same day, late afternoon or in the night. The quality of food per se has nothing to complain about...however the taste bothers me. Of all the times that I have taken a late afternoon flight back to Mumbai, the food has been exactly the same. there are chichen tikkas, and a brownish dessert (never been able to figure what it is). similarly, breakfast is almost always the same...steamed eggs. have gotten tired of the same stuff. the Dinner is again rather indifferent as well. flew last night and it was a salad of bengal gram, a little bit of kaali daal, and sort of a biryani with a small piece of chicken. the kheer served as dessert was horrible. Jet really needs to do something about the food served..and that holds for the business class food as well. Indian Airlines really does serve much better food. especially during the recently concluded Food festival, the food was excellent. on a business class dinner flight, there was some italian style food served, and the olive oil on it absolutely stunned me. I have never, repeat never, seen olive oil that green anywhere in India.
2. seat pitch and leg room on Jet flights sucks. because my legs are slightly long though I am not very tall, I need to sit at an angle if I fly cattle class. the last row of seats is incredibly horrible.
3. the cabin crew is nice and sweet and young. agreed....but they certainly dont inspire any form of confidence in me that if an accident happened they would really be able to help. and I guess i dont blame them...if you see any of their cabin crew recruitment advts in the newspaper, you will know why.
I am not saying that I would really prefer Indian Airlines over Jet...I wouldnt perhaps ...mostly because of the crappy attitude that Indian Airlines ground staff (at check in) show usually.
