I had booked a ticket from Chennai to Delhi for the 23rd Apr 2017 945 am Flight no.9W736. Did web checkin the day before and got Seat no 14F allocated.
Checked into the airport before time and got the boarding pass also at 9 am. The security check queue was big and the security check person suddenly went off somewhere and not to be seen again till next 20 minutes.
At last after clearing security, I ran to Gate 5 but was denied entry to the flight by one person saying the flight is overbooked and no seat is available and I was late. He also misled me in my panic saying it was already 10.45 am.
How can the flight be overbooked when I had a ticket. I also overheard two security persons saying "Flight tho abhi khada hua hai. " There was another guy who snatched my boarding pass and started going out. I ran after him. He led me to the Jet airways office where I met a person Uma. She said she would help me and asked me to wait till 12.00 pm. I did. She spoke to spicejet office nearby and told me that one seat was available and that it would cost 21000 Rs. While I was desperately looking, two of my friends who had come the airport to board the delhi bound flight at 1 pm were offered a seat each to the two of them and was told that I had to pay only around 10000 Rs. only if they could travel with me in the spicejet flight at 1 pm. In fact they offered to give one more place in spicejet for 4 of us to travel.
With no other option we had to accept the two plus one ticket for me for around 10000 rs. My friends took this risk for my sake. THEY DID NOT ACCEPT NEFT OR CARD. DEMANDED HARD CASH.
I somehow mobilized the amount and paid them and they arranged a person to BYPASS SECURITY CHECK AND Board the spicejet 1 pm flight with an es cort.
When they initially said only 1 ticket was available in spicejet how were they able to free 4 tickets?
Last minute denial of seat and corruption is rampant in jet airways flights. Please do not travel in this airline.
