The book is a nice option for those who have a programming background and are looking to start learning Java( or build the foundational knowledge on Android programming. I personally used it and found it to be very informative with clear concepts about Java. I combined this with some other online tutorials to learn Java. The book is very detailed and goes into much more details then just basic stuff, like socket programming and threading. Personally recommend this book for experienced as well as new Java programmers!
