JAI HO Well , what do you say about a Salman Khan film ?

Salman Khan's films are a genre in itself. Of late ,

Salman's films have mostly been about thrashing the

goons , gravity - defying actions , flaunting his body ,

some kickass dance sequences and 'dialoguebaazi'. You

never expect some content rich plot or a riveting

serious story from a Salman Khan film. After

around one year , Salman returns to the big screen

with Jai Ho which is being directed by his brother

Sohail Khan. Well , Jai Ho is no different from a typical Salman

Khan entertainer. It has everything you pretty much

expect from a Salman Khan film. But what makes

Jai Ho different from other Salman Khan films is

that Jai Ho has a heart. A remake of A.R

Murugadoss' telugu film Stalin which starred Chiranjeevi in the lead , Jai Ho is a masala film which tries to give a social message. Jai Ho tries to build up emotion by preching some social instincts and morals. Director Sohail Khan sets a moralistic tone for the film. The concept of helping three people in a chain works but after some point it does get a bit preachy. Although having a social message , the film is all about Salman at the end of the day. He roars, he fights and even, he bites. But it is nice seeing the lead hero of the film playing a socially responsible man. Salman's character , Jai Agnihotri , an ex-army man is a socially aware guy who tries to bring a change in the society. Salman underplays his role in some scenes and that brings out the intensity in his character. The real heroine of the film is actually Tabu who plays Jai's (Salman) sister.

A very talented actress , Tabu is the emotional factor of the film. The scenes of Salman and Tabu are awesome. The newcomer actress Daisy Shah dances well but she needs to polish her acting skills. Danny is quite okay as the villain. The film has a host of actors playing cameos. Genelia's cameo is the best of all who plays a handicapped girl. Fukrey actor Pulkrit Samrat is also there in the role of a police officer but doesn't get much scope. Others like Ashmit Patel , Aditya Pancholi are okay. Suniel Shetty is badly wasted. Sohail Khan does a decent job in directing. He tries to incorporate some social sentiments to the film. But other than that he comes across as the quintessential masala director. Music by Sajid Wajid is average. Baki Sab First Class and Tumko To Aana Hi Tha are quite good. Overall , Jai Ho is a good family entertainer. The best thing about the film is that it tries to give the audience a social message. Inspite of getting a bit preachy at times, Jai Ho works mostly due to Salman and Tabu's performance.

This Sohail Khan film is different from other mindless Bollywood entertainers. At the end of the day it is a feel-good film. Go watch it with your families , friends and loved ones & have a good time. Till then...

Jai Ho !
