I am here to write down my review about Jai Ho which I watched yesterday on republic day of India. We entered the movie hall and its started with our national anthem which was shot in Siyachen with our army. Got goosebumps and that set the mood to watch Jai Ho.

To be very honest, you should watch it, and watch it in theater.

I will purposely avoid writing about plot in much of details. But to give overview of plot, its a story of a common man, who has a very different rather unique approach to look at and react on things which are happening around him in India. Every common man has more or less similar events happening around him as well as every common man (Indian) goes through such events in some or the other time of his life.

Although story revolves around Salman (Jai) being a hero, but this movies has presented Salman as altogether different personality. And this Salman is definitely likable, lovable. He represents you and me in this movie, so feels very close to us.

Plot, story, script touches your senses, it leaves you thinking and tries to change your thinking about whats happening around you in India being Indian.

It has good family entertainment, its a mix bag of Bollywood goodies, some comedy, some family scenes, some family emotions, some light moments, some intense emotions, some songs, little bit of romance and extreme action. But movie no where goes towards vulgarity, extreme action also does not becomes overdose, it is well justified by the reasons triggering this action sequences.

Actors and their acting.

Salman, moving little away from his traditional onscreen persona. Does well. In this movie he feels closer to us, closer to you and me. He presents himself very decently, behaves naturally, has great extent of screen presence, but he gives proper justice to it. Some action scenes feel exaggerated but what we should take out, is a meaning. "Kyonki hum sirf dhamakehi sunte hai".

On star cast front, movie does well too. A new face, I forgot her name, but she managed to do well. Another surprise is Tabu. As Jai's sister. Her presence in this role makes feel good. Her simpler personality, softer nature, caring sister, she got multi faceted role she has got and no doubt, she is good.

Salman's nephew (in movie) creates good light moments and humor in many scenes.

All other played and given justice to their roles. Ashmit patel, Mohnish Behal, Mahesh Majrekar, Danny all done well.

Then through out the movie, many actors have shown their faces for few moments, Genilia Dsouza, Sunil Shetty had small rather tiny roles to play. but they signify their need in the movie.

Concept

There is a strong message delivered by this movie and that is delivered in very straight forward way. This is really indeed a great message and we as Indians should really think over it. We usually blame everything on system, police, politics and babus. But this we never think what you and me as a common man can contribute towards betterment of society and eventually to a country.

This movie is just about how sensitively you react to your surrounding and how you can approach to those things differently. Sure, many things shown in this movie are not practical but there are many more practical things too.

So best is to see this movie with an approach of "only look at positives and forgive negatives."

Songs does not create much of an impact, but background score is good enough to keep you engaged. Some scenes are presented in larger than life way, but chalta hain .

Overall, its nice to watch this movie. You get inspired by the story. Mind is refreshed, hope of light is lit. Success of this movie depends on how you take it, how you perceive it. I dont care how much crores it makes, I am concerned about how sensitive we are towards India and making it a better place for generations to come.

I liked it, my wife and son enjoyed it, but more than that, this movie moved me as a common man.

Even if you hate Salman or you are not a fan of Salman, even if you dont like to watch Hindi movies, even if you dont care about India, but spend 2-3 hundreds and watch this movie. Be assured that, you will be at least entertained for 2.5 hours if not moved.

Its a sincere attempt by Sohail and his team and team has given their best, now it up to us.

Jai Ho!
