Movie Review: Jai Ho Democracy

Cinematography:

Believe it or not, Jai Ho Democracy is the film that will take you little closer to our Politics, media to some extent and Indian army. The film is the mixer of all these three important elements. It has nothing new to offer you then what we have seen in 2013 released film 'War Chhod Na Yaar'.

About the film:

The film starts with an unrealistic incident, where a hen spotted at a no man's land at the border of India and Pakistani. In order to get the hen back to Indian territory. A young cook from the army is forced to enter into the dangerous area. The Pakistanis open fire looking to this sudden movement in the no man's land.

News Channel hunting for the breaking news, claims this incident as the war like situation in the country. Owing to media pressure, the government assigns a committee to look into the matter.

Annu Kapoor plays the chairman of this special committee whereas Om Puri, Grusha Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Seema Biswas, Adil Hussain and Aamir Bashir play the members from the Ex-servicemen and NGO workers.

Star Performances:

Annu Kapoor: He is phenomenal in the film as a South Indian committee chairman.

Satish Kaushik: His character has not much to offer in the film other then using a few bad words.

Om Puri, Grusha Kapoor, Seema Biswas, Adil Hussain and Aamir Bashir: Such a remarkable cast but totally wasted with their over to do comedy lines which does not appears to be funny after sometimes.

Songs:

Thank god the makers of the film did not include too many songs except one and that too, is so hard to digest due to the weak plot of the film.

Best Scenes: Young cook is forced to enter the no man's land Satish Kaushik's usage of bad words Annu Kapoor's South Indian dialect

Final Verdict:

I genuinely think what the makers of this movie were thinking while making the film. Poor plot, lack of good writing, bad cinematography and slapstick jokes kills the movie completely. Highly recommended NOT TO GO FOR THIS MOVIE, if you have already gone through the torture of War Chhod Na Yaar.

Star Rating:

I'm going with half star out of five. 1/2 star for this film.
