I am a late reviewer for this movie and was misled into watching this lousy show by the banner and the big names involved in this. Man, was I astounded by the pathetic show from such a talented bunch. I could not see a single positive from this movie.

Oh yes, there were a few positives, I had my 'jaan' even during the interval. Mark Twain once remarked, "Be careful while reading a health book. you may die of a misprint". On similar lines, I would say, " Be careful while watching this movie. You may suffer a nervous breakdown because of boredom". I dont know if you can kill time watching this movie or get killed in the process - either way, this is a damp squib.

The story is weak, the music is pathetic, the screenplay is poor and the result is a cacophonous medley of noises that make you wonder if you can escape from the movie hall. The plot is very simple and naive : SRK is a pauper who falls for a rich girl (Katrina) only to be separated from her (even God cant understand why and how they separate). He suddenly gets a job with Indian army in Kashmir and encounters Anushka. Again love flickers and dies. SRK keeps meeting with accidents and temporarily loses memory only to find himself going back in time by 10 years and pine again for Katrina. Did you follow the story - if yes, you are the director of this movie. If not, then you are part of the audience. So naive and so simple - poor souls who do not understand whats happening on the screen.

Now for reviewing the music : ARR - you have failed and flopped big time. Challa as a song has a catchy tune. But if you listen closely, you will find the singer trying too hard. Agreed SRK plays a Punjabi character, but that does not mean you try to sing as if the song is a bhangra - the background voice and the on-screen SRK appear as distinct as butter and jam. You see and feel that these are totally out of sync. The singer tries high pitch at junctures and that jars.

Overall, he gives a faint notion that he is suffering from hysteria, dementia, constipation and nausea rolled into one. Ishq shava - Oh my, was this a sensual romantic song? It appeared sleazy and lousy. It is like an ageing porn star trying to seduce an young man with a sensual song. The nasal tinge in the femal voice is irritating. Jab tak hai jaan - the title song and the poem by SRK are about the zenith that this film reaches and pleasing on the ear. On the whole - its very very disappointing.

On the performances : SRK tries to carry a very very weak script. Till today I have not fathomed what he was doing moving around like an electrician. He seems to be de-fusing bombs the way my electrician checks faulty wiring. To de-fuse a 100 bombs he needs only a pair of cutting pliers. Throughout the movie he sights bombs, removews his ray-ban and feels a wire - no protection or bomb suit, he then takes a pair of pliers and cuts a wire - kaboom, the bomb goes dumb. Guess even Rajni could not have managed this. Katrina - other than looking like a doll and wearing skimpy clothes she does nothing. She looks like she is going to run away from the movie any time. Anushka - supposed to be vibrant, but irritates throughout.

My verdict : Sorry SRK and ARR fans, but this is a movie to be avoided at all costs. Dont be fooled by the big names or the banners - the movie sucks. The best thing in the movie is the interval and the end.

My rating : 1/5
