Again we have a Sunny Deol film in which he is fighting with Pakistani terrorists and is using clapworthy dialogues,screaming at the top of his lungs!We have Sunny Deol,acting as a college boy,who is a teenager.He is dancing,singing on stage and is riding a motorcycle,like a young boy!Let`s take a look on Jaal_The Trap.
THE FILM:
Jaal_The Trap,directed by none other than our very own Guddu Dhanoa stars,Sunny Deol,Tabu,Reema Sen,Amrish Puri,Farida Jalal and Shahbaaz Khan.Another Joshbhari Sunny Deol,action film is here.Since November 2002,the soundtrack of this film released and we have been watching its trailors since,a long time.Now,at last,this film has released!What is it all about???Well,keep reading my review...
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Ajay(Sunny Deol):Ajay,is a cool guy,who wants to be a singer and wants to make his own music album,but he can`t dance,so he is unable to do so.He falls in love with Neha,a school teacher in Shimla.Neha is kidnapped by terrorists,and the terrosists won`t leave her until unless,Ajay kidnaps Anita,who is kept in New Zealand,so that Kashmiri terrorists may not kidnap her!!!Sunny Deol should not work in such films,anymore.He should be shown a mature person in every film,he stars!He acts so young and tries to look like a teenager,but he should realize that he is 47 years old!!!Such things don`t suit him.His characterisation is half-baked and so,he doesn`t impress much!More than that,he is dancing with and flirting Reema Sen.Watching him with Reema Sen,is something very hard to digest!He should take better roles,now!I must admit,that Sunny Deol fans will still love him,because fans are always your admirer!
2.Neha(Tabu):Neha is a widow,who is a school teacher.She falls in love with Ajay but is later kidnapped by terrorists,so that they can blackmail Ajay to do what he shouldn`t!Neha,in short is a no-nonsense,simple lady!Tabu is a great actress!No doubt,but she somewhat looks dead in this film.In the second half,at some places she acts well,but she isn`t that impressive!I don`t mean to say that her performance was poor but her characterisation was very,very poor.However,I can`t deny the fact,that she looks gorgeous!
3.Anita(Reema Sen):Anita,is a spoilt daughter,of a rich father.Her life is under threat but Major Kaul has saved her from the Kashmiri terrorists,who are after her!She sometimes,breaks all the rules,but then feels sorry!Reema Sen is in a role,which isn`t so well defined!Her performance in her debut film Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke was outstanding and I expected a powerful performance from her this time,as well,but she falled short of my expectations.She looks glamorous,and that`s it!
4.Major Kaul(Amrish Puri):Major Kaul,is an honest person,who is protecting,Anita from the terrorists,who are after kidnapping her!Major Kaul,is Ajay`s father but due to circumstances,his own son goes against his wishes!Amrish Puri isn`t playing the bad Pakistani guy,this time,in a Sunny Deol film.That`s the only difference,otherwise he looks unfresh in a nothing new role.The same old dialogue delivery,with the same old face expressions.
Rest of the cast,are also not so impressive,but are passable,such as Farida Jalal,Anupam Kher,Shahbaaz Khan and others.
THE STORY:
The story is about a spoilt brat,Anita,who is surrounded by terrorists,who are after kidnapping her to blackmail her father!!!No one is going to lose against the terrorists so she is kept under protection by Major Kaul,who is a very honest person!His son,Ajay is a young singer who wants to release his own album but one day he meets up with Neha,whose duppatta flies in the air,and falls on Ajay`s face,while he is busy driving his motorcycle!When he looks at Neha,he falls in love with her but after sometime,comes to know the fact that she`s a widow!Well,both of them fall in love and sing a lovely song in Shimla.Now,Neha is kidnapped by the terrorists,who have fake beard on!(They all look very unrealistic!)They won`t leave Neha unless Ajay kidnaps,Anita.Now Ajay is so much in love that he goes to New Zealand to kidnap that spoilt brat!He also loves his country and how can he ever do so but everything is fair in love!What will this very honest person do???Well,what can Sunny Deol do except for shouting and fighting to impress the viewers?
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Guddu Dhanoa is here directing a Sunny Deol movie which will stir the patriotic passion in you!This film looks very unexciting and direction is also poor.Guddu Dhanoa`s Hawa,directorially was nice(in my opinion),but here he is very poor,back in all those Bichoo or Salaakhen form.Screenplay is also weak,which won`t grip your attention,except for some scenes in the second half!(Remember only SOME scenes!)Dialogues are the same old typical Sunny Deol lines!However,Sunny Deol fans,will definitely find the dialogues clapworthy,as he will speak them out!Tinnu Verma`s action is great!The special effects are also nice and the only plus point of this film!Anand Raj Anand`s music is FLOP,except I like the song ''Sona Sona Soniye Ni Roop Da Nazara''.
ON THE WHOLE:
Jaal_The Trap caught me in trap but I finally managed to escape(not from the clutches of terrorsits but from the film).This is the same old Sunny Deol,action stuff!If you`ve seen Gadar,The Hero or Maa Tujhhe Salaam,then there is no point in watching this one!
