Pros:
Sleek and compact in design, instant heating of water, savings in energy
Cons:
Does not supply boiling hot water when the flow is large as in shower

Racold Pronto Instant water heater is one of the most useful appliances you’ll want in your home. It is small and sleek, fits almost every size of bathroom/kitchen and does what it is meant to do,
i.e., supplies instant hot water at the press of a button at an average temperature of 40-60 deg Celsius.

I have been using this product from Racold for a month now, and am very satisfied with it. We are a three-member family, and use it mainly for taking a shower and occasionally for washing purpose. Although, most of the dealers in my city had recommended to go for the storage option when they heard that I want to use it in the bathroom to take showers, I was adamant in buying this model. The reasons for my selecting Racold Pronto Instant as against any other storage water heater are as follows: -

1) Storage heaters are bulky in nature and they take up a large space in the bathroom. Racold Pronto is very sleek and compact looking, and is a perfect fit for my bathroom
2) I am not prepared to wait for 10 minutes to get hot water and that too in installments (unless I buy a very large storage heater that will supply running hot water for my entire bath-time)
3) I may not need the entire hot water in the storage (e.g. if I am washing my face, I may need just 1-2 litres of hot water but the storage heater is heating the entire volume of water as per it capacity) and the rest will be wasted, which is also a wastage of electricity.
4) Cost of storage water heaters is more than double the cost of instant heaters available in the market (I bought Racold Pronto in October 2006 for around Rs 2200 plus installation and fittings charges amounting to Rs 400; the smallest storage heater available in the market, 5L from Racold/Bajaj/Compton Greaves would cost me anything between Rs 4500-5000, high end models are costlier as expected).

Purchase Price (INR): 2200
