To start up this review, I think it has become mandatory for me to quote the definition of a multiplex (It is from Websters):
mul-ti-plex noun.
A building, especially a movie
theater or dwelling, with multiple separate units. So I will have to call up Innovative as a multiplex because the dictionary asks me to do so and Innovative has at least crossed the criteria to be called as a multiplex.
I watched
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last Saturday at Innovative and believe me, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I watched it anywhere else.
The multiplex is located at
Marathalli in Bangalore. It has four screens named 1,2,3 and 4 and has two classes of tickets - The Silver Class and the Gold Class.
Ticket Rates -
Silver Class - Rs. 100/-
Gold Class - Rs. 120/-
I will divide my review into three sections:
1. ManagementI do not think that it needs to employ any manager for managing the multiplex. When you enter the multiplex, you see huge crowd in front of the ticket counters. People park their vehicles right in front of the ticket counters and they finally move them to the parking (stand) only after they get the tickets. So the area in front of the ticket counters become highly congested. This could be avoided.
Also it has a unique feature which, I believe, no other multiplex in India has.
You get tickets for a particular movie only at a particular counter. Now this is something which can be a huge pain in your neck.
Also for advance booking, you do not get the ticket. You get a coupon which you need to exchange for tickets once you are there. Isnt it a bit behind time?
Coming to the worst part -
In the male restroom, ladies do the wash up of the place. Isnt that pathetic? I mean how can one miss up such a thing.
2. Decor and Interiors I must admit that once you enter the multiplex, your pains disappear. The inside is beautiful and the best part is that it is built on the traditional approach of
Dress Circle and Balcony. The so called dress circle costs you Rs. 100/- per movie and the balcony (Gold Class) is just Rs. 20/- more. The theater is spacious and the seats are relaxing. The leg space is a bit less I believe, but that is manageable.
The rest rooms are clean (Check out for my description in management) and free of bad odour.
Even the outside is soothing, leave aside the management blunders. It has flowers, trees and lot of greenary.
3. Movie ExperienceIf you are with your spouse, any movie can be fun but if you are alone, the sound and picture quality matters much. Unfortunately, Innovative lacks innovation in this area. I am not saying that it lacks the required aspects completely but somewhat.
The screen size is a bit small. If you are watching a movie in Gold Class, you might feel that the screen is faaaaar away. That is however acceptable as the picture quality is good. Thanks to the ultra modern projectors deployed.
The sound quality I believe is somewhat less than what is expected out of a multiplex. It has Dolby/DTS but I believe the shape of the cinema halls make it a bit difficult to be completely effective. It is somewhat narrow and longer than what would have been a winning combination.
So I will reccomend this multiplex only for the reason that the movie experience is not that bad here as it will look out in your initial 30 inutes inside the multiplex compound. If you are out to watch something which doesnot incorporate excellent sound effects, innovative multiplex is a good place to watch.
I might have written something wrongly in this review of mine. Please correct me by posting comments - Good or bad the comments are always welcome.
