Humans have this tendency to go for brand names, even if the brand is doling out cheap products or services. Capitalising on this human behavior, many brands have sustained their business and earned huge profits. Inlingua is one of them.
Being an English Major student, I had to constantly expand the horizons of my learning abilities. My course had a subject on Creative Writing. Being completely clueless as to what that subject might offer, I decided to take up the Creative Writing course with the above-mentioned academy.
The ambiance was pretty good and the resumes of teachers looked impressive. My first class and I was with a bunch of students, most of them non-literature students. The teacher opened his mouth and a barrage of words came out of it. He just tried to impress upon the innocent students his knowledge. He talked nothing in the name of creative writing. All he did was discussing tenses, citing few author's name and reading out few lines of prose and poetry.
A week into my course and the pattern continued. Since I was an English Major student, I knew most of the things that teacher discussed about. The other batchmates, however, not so fortunate, just listened in awe to his bragging and superficial knowledge. I endured the course for one month and then left the course mid-term. The course costed me INR 3000 and certainly it did not live up to that price tag.
My advise is to avoid such institutions that build up on the poor knowledge of students. If you still want to take up a course, make sure you thoroughly research their faculty and their actual syllabus.
