When your car approaches the Apollo Hospital at SouthEx in New Delhi, a feeling comes to you as if you have come to the fountain head of treatment facility in India and this is the final destination for your suffering. As you look at its reviews and narcissistic displays being the best private Hospital of Delhi 6 times in a row, you morale is further boosted up.

But when the treatment starts you wait, wait and wait with all sorts of unnecessary medical tests, meticulous pompous "care" for siphoning up your hard earned money for things that does little towards your treatment. These extra needless tests done by this hospital is a well known fact, these tests are done solely to charge exorbitantly in the end of the day which not only poses a financial burden but also takes away important time which can mean either life or death for the patient. They were even penalized far back in 2008 for such activity. Refer to: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Hospital-ordered-to-pay-Rs-1-lakh-for-needless

My mother has been such a victim, she is suffering from parotid tumour and the specialist ENT doctor recommended a FNAC for diagnosis. The FNAC report arrived after 2 days and it came out from the test that she had no malignant cells. But when the report was shown to the doctor he was unsatisfied and recommended a second FNAC this time Ultrasonic guided FNAC, this report took 1 week to arrive and in this time my mother's health deteriorated as ever with daily shots of pain killers and a resultant medical emergency. Now this hospital claims to be "world class" but they seemed not to know that parotid cancers cannot be detected many a times with simple FNAC and could have directly advised us for tru-cut/USG guided biopsy. Then, what was the necessity to redo the tests twice making the patient suffer so much? Also a question remains why there was no post biopsy checkup for topical treatment of the tumour which is certainly getting worse? Then after the biopsy when we went for a consultation with our consulting E.N.T. doctor but we were outright turned down even for a advise. My mom retained the bandage for a week and didn't undergo dressing after the biopsy tests.

The above said medical emergency resulted from her severe hypotension which may have been due to her anti-hypertension drugs combined with the side-effects of pain killers she had been taking. When we admitted her to the Apollo emergency she was given life support systems but none of the doctors were even concerned about the drugs she was taking, they simply started to fantasize about her renal and hepatic condition and pursued aggressively to let her get admitted in to the facility. The striking thing was: our ENT consultant doctor didn't even show up and also didn't advise the visiting doctors about the condition of the patient.

Then I came to know that this facility was not enough for a proper cancer therapy they lack a lot of modern equipments in this field. To sum up it was a horrible experience I had had.
