I am just as disappointed as any other music lover. The platform of Indian Idol - it is obvious now - is not for talent. One should have realized this long ago. Thanks to Sony Entertainment Television - they have shaken the very base of National Integrity. Now let’s come to the question -   Why Karunya lost?

1. If you look at Karunya - his very body language spells CONFIDENCE - in spite of his looks. He did not seem one bit bothered about his not so attractive facial features. But he was a darling to all music lovers - only because he was sheer magic on stage. Now, there are many people who cannot identify with such confidence. They may have felt threatened - especially when you compare him to the sheer vulnerable and absolute diffident body language of Sandeep. They felt sorry for Sandeep. He was the underdog - and like all underdogs he got the sympathy - Javed Akhtar knew this would happen.

2. The suave manners, fluent English speaking ability, his ’city boy’ wisdom - was Karunya’s undoing. Added to this was the fact that he was trained and versatile and would not stoop to ask for votes unless - it was for his ability. One should be proud of his supporters that they did not go to the extent to display vulgar canvassing. It is not politics.

3. But this is going to happen again! There will be no change in the format. How else will the money come? The organizers will drag the show, build a vulgar suspense, extend the dates to suit their convenience and pocket - and next year - I may write yet another review about the unfairness of it all.
