Pros:
Pure Entertainment and excitement
Cons:
Faulty format, Voting should be restricted

I was just reading a review on indian idol and read one about "Why Karunya Lost?" ... This has been on my mind for sometime and like thousands of others was utterly disappointed when I heard the words
" The next Indian Idol is Sandeep Acharya". That second I was sure that the Indian idol format is faulty and does not give the best the chance they deserve. Karunya, being the talented one, got to even sing a song for massively popular "Lago Raho MunnaBhai".

Through this review I wanted to pull out a couple of points, Y Karunya could not win the comp.

1. Indian idol being a "Hindi" singing competition is mainly popular in the north and central regions of India. Karunya being a southie, could not manage to get the support from the north indians. So much so for the unity in indians. I never believed in "How could a north indian vote for a south indian?" but i guess I was made to after the grand finale. The only north indians who voted for Karunya were the ones who had some idea abt music and singing. I guess the real test would have been if Sandeep had a surname of subramaniam. I would love to see how he wud have won then, coz it would have been a very fair one.

2. I also strongly believe that there is a good chance that Sandeep being a businessman son and hailing from a rich enough family, could have done some initial invstment into voting. Saying that I mean, it is highly possible with the Indian Idol format, that Mr Acharya would have spend a cpl of lakhs to make sure that his son gets the crown. It could have been a calculated risk as even paying out a couple of lakhs, would get him to bank 1 crore in the end and the popularity, which means a lot in India in today’s world. This is a very personal comment but a very possible one. Think over it.

Though,I know that format will not change and ultimately it is the voting in the end to determine the winner, but I would like to see that the ultimate winner be decided  on some point system for consistency and performance. Oh well ! we all know that it is more of a commercial game than the real talent show. If it was a real talent show, jokers like you see in the first round will not be even allowed in front of judges. In the end, just enjoy the show, dont have emotional winners and there is a good chance of it biting you in the back. Its a great show but not an absolute fair one. PERIOD

Cheers

Yash
