The one thing that beats all airlines vis a vis Indian Airlines is the low cost on some sectors. Like Lucknow- Delhi in 1251/- Rs. Now even Air deccan cannot beat that and then the pilots are real trained guys on Indian Airlines.
 
Very experienced guys these though I cannot say the same for others. And of course indian airlines is not interested in robbing passengers by introducing dubious schemes. It is 100% pure gold. I do remember about 10 years back the flights were rarely if ever on time but you got big bonuses also. about 15 years back we were travelling Lko Del Srinagar and back.
 
Our flight got delayed at Delhi. We were given free stay and meals at a 5 star hotel and then due to the plane having developed some snag we were sent in a very big plane and i have not travelled in such a big plane in my life. You could play cricket very comfortably inside that plane. It was simply huge so we were not that sorry.

Now of course Indian Airlines has improved its services a lot. Even the crew is much more polite. They may not be young but what do I have to do with that, they are efficient!! /And well some sectors are real real cheap and that too in very good planes with meals included!!
