I always used ICICI card on HP pumps but was happy to get Citibank's Indianoil card & switched loyalties to Indianoil. However, a few days ago, my accountant showed me an approx. difference of Rs.60/- in my chargeslip & credit card statement. Generally, tallying of chargeslips with statement is not done by any individual.
I spoke to the bank & they told me that the petrol pump needs to have Citibank's swiping machine. If they don't, transaction charge will be levied.
Only after petrol is filled, does one go to the swiping machine. How can one check in advance? Then they have an option. Send an SMS to find registered Indianoil pumps. Who has the time? HDFC doesn't charge. And so does ICICI. I'm shifting.
Having patronised Citibank for many years didn't make any difference when I said I do not want the card. I'm not happy. What's the point in cobranding?
