I did my course in Indian Montessori Training Course south two years before. I joined this course though I had a corporate job on hand. I wanted to be extra sure about joining 'genuine' Montessori teachers training program.
i was drawing a five figure salary and wanted to do an authentic course which is not only nationally recognised but also internationally accepted. Over a period of time, I was also keen on starting my own Montessori school. i have two young kids and working in corporate world had snatched away the best phase of life. I met people who had done this course few years before and they constantly recommended this course for me.
I enquired quiet a few so called 'Montessori teachers Training Courses' which looked impressive from outside and I was shocked to see the quality of work that they are doing. Most of them claim that they are recognised or use the word 'registered' to promote their Institute! Beware of them. Some of them even claim that their courses are 'like' IMC or IMTC courses.
But they are all fake. Once I heard that IMTC courses are challenging, I was looking for the 'easy' course. I did the hunting for nearly 3-4 months and visited and enquired about 60-65 courses in Bangalore , chennai and Hyderabad. I found IMTC as the most genuine , simple and most transparent Institution. I find that the faculty and the directors are highly committed to their work. Their dedication is impressive.
I believe this Institute was founded by Dr Maria Montessori herself in 1939. Since then they have done hundreds of batches. As I have experienced they are simple, humble and down to earth people without much glamour.
In fact right from the day one 'interview' they provide all the information about the courses and brings in a clarity to the student. But I find the details are so many, that sometime it is difficult for any student to comprehend and remember everything.
Lectures are amazing, ex tempo, very convincing. Visiting lectures from working community is really an added advantage. Among so many Institutes that I had been upto post graduation courses, I find this as most straight, up front, respectable one.
The work is hard no doubt, i too thought of why did they design a course like this. But all this was during the period of course. But Now that I am working with children, I realise why Montessori has designed the course like this.
We all take children and their needs for granted . But it is here that I learnt how important is the childhood is? how important is the role played by parent and also teachers. Thanks to the experienced lecturers and their passionate training. The big internal tranformation has helped me not only as an effective teacher (adult) but also a wonderful parent.
During this transition, some students go through lot of pain because of their inability to understand the lectures, accept their own limitations, meet the deadlines etc. I find such students struggling and blaming the Institute. But I find anybody who attentds this course with a committmet to know child and serve him will enjoy. I find students praising, enjoying and applauding lecturers till the last day.
Knowledge here is overflowing, it is up to take as much as possible. Hence I find people from outside the country taking up this course. On enquiry I found that Most of the training in other countries focuses only on technical and intellectual levels but I believe here in Indian Montessori Training courses that they get Holistic training including the spiritual level.
Overall, it was a fantastic journey for me. A great learning, transcending experience. Now, I am thinking of starting My own Montessori House of children and I find IMC has a consultancy wing to support me. They also have special offer for trained people. I strongly recommend this course for anybody who is serious about their career without looking at shortcuts. If you wish to be empowered and enabled I vote for IMTC.!
