We went for medical termination of early pregnancy(5 weeks). Dr. Nilofer shaikh(gynecologist) was the doctor. Apart from ultrasound and other thing, I was charged 2500 extra. The description says surgeon charge. And doctor did not even touched my wife(as a treatment conclusion my wife has to take some Rs 400 pill to terminate pregnancy and that too at home, and it was 2 times 5-10 min consultancy time with doctor for which I paid consultancy charge) . While making payment hospital was asking 1000 extra. We asked the reason, they said its not allowed here. as if we are doing some illegal thing. When I told about law they start saying its hospital charge. When I argued that I paid other charges and my wife was not even admitted what is extra charge for. When they could give proper reason then they asked me to wait till they clarify from doctor and later they dropped 1000 extra charge. Total treatment costed me 7000. its ok for ultrasound and other charges but I did not understand why they charged me 2500 extra. I feel I am cheated. Although its not about money, I feel I should complaint about this to National consumer forum, but unfortunately we cant do since they have no manual for showing fixed price for any treatment.
