Story:

IN THE NAME OF HONOUR , this book is memoir and true story of a gang rape victim Mukhtar mai, residing in a tribal area of Pakistan.

This extraordinary woman who was barely educated , only versed in holy teachings of Koran, showed extraordinary courage and convictionin her beliefs of getting justice no matter what, thru her struggle has not only put her tormentors behind bars, but has taught them a lesson of life time.In an seemingly orthodox society of Pakistan, this woman is a beaming idol for all those tormented women whether illiterate or literate all over the world.I salute this woman from bottom of my heart.

Mukhtar was a 32 year old divorcee due to no fault of her own, but simply was thrown away like waste from a few days marriage, still she was living with her parents and siblings in her modest home when disaster struck and she was gang raped by influential high caste goons(i would prefer to say this)when she went to a local jirga(local village court) for resolving a trivial dispute  regarding her kid brother.

She fought all the way to highest court of Pakistan from a local corrupt police station , braving all pressures including threat to life.In compensation, she wanted a school in her nondescript village so that none else faces such problems as putting thumb impressions on something they don't know as they are illiterate and lose their battle prematurely.I think this woman is just great. You need to read her memoirs in form of this book to know what she went thru and still kept faith.

I think this is one of the great books I have ever read, Its not a book , a person's life drawn on paper, there is no greater book than life, i must say...

thanks for reading my review.
