This has to be one of Sidney Sheldon's most popular works, indeed the story is a killer. Might have inspired a few movies. The story is of a simple intelligent girl Tracy who works in a bank, living a normal life, happy about her baby which is due and her marriage with the man she loves.
Suddenly she is implicated in a criminal case by Romano, a mafia don and she is thrown into the horrors of jail life. The explicit way the author describes her life in the jail, the horror and brutal abuse, I had almost put the book aside. But Tracy re-emerges from this horrid state, takes her revenge and soon begins a new journey as a con artist. A happy ending.
