Idea: Call Divert Facility

It is crime to kill an Idea. Ideas need to be cherished but somehow I can’t dump this Idea. I am talking about Idea cellular.


I have a pre-paid connection since last 3 years. Recently I got one more post-paid Idea as my pre-paid Ideas used to stop radiating mid-month. After using Idea I came to know that Ideas are consumable too.


Carrying 2 mobile handsets is fashion with headache so I activated call divert facility on one of my Idea connection. It never worked smoothly. Complaint was lodged with customer care and responses ran in the following order.


1)    You will have to visit our office at Pune.


2)    Change your SIM card.


3)    Change your handset and try with other handset


4)    Dear Customer, Your communication ID is XXXXYYYY Has Been Registered and we will be serviced shortly. Rgds idea.


5)    Sir I hope your complaint is rectified. (Oops that was a bouncer to me)


It happens that I run out of balance but it never happen that I run out of validity in pre-paid. Incoming is free.  **What was happening – when somebody was dialing my number (where call divert is activated) he was greeted with unusual horrible music followed by an auto response please check the number you have dialed.


* That’s Idea! So I experienced this call divert from various numbers like TATA, BSNL Landline, Idea, Reliance but there was certainly issue with the Idea system. Horrible music followed by please check the number you have dialed. So I again strongly lodged my grievances with customer call centre.


Again the response was Sir I hope your complaint is rectified and my response was, are you aware of what complaint is? This time Idea was bowled. Ultimately they tried call divert on their own mobiles, experienced and acknowledged that there is real bug in the system and will be solved sooner. I remember one Mr. Ganesh giving minute attention to this bug and hopefully it is resolved now.


Although call divert is working somewhat fine, I am scared to use it, as I am not 100% sure that it will work all the times. God knows, when Idea will play horrible music and an auto-response that “please check the number you have dialed” and I will miss “that important call”.


Idea could have sent me “Thank You” message for pointing bug in their system. Someone have helped them find, test, re-generate and resolve the bug in their system. But nothing of such kind happened. And my Idea remained Idea only.
