Hey guys (those in Mumbai)
If you have, like me, been putting off the trip to I MAX Adlabs because it is way too out of the way, stop doing it. Because the I MAX dome experience is one that is completley
out of this world.
I had heard from friends who had visited this theatre and they just couldnt stop bragging about it. But listening to them, one never really got the real picture.
It just happened by accident and on pure persistence of a friend that I finally decided to make the trip. Cursing my friend all the way long. Wadala takes about an hour and a half from where I stay. And it is more irritating because you dont know the route.
Anyways, once there, all the bickering just stopped.
The entire venue with its open space gives you a different feeling. The evening show was
Everest. Although the film is a documentary kinda film about three guys - actually two men and a woman - who plan to climb the Everest and be on top of the world. One among who is the son of the first climber to the Everest.
Once inside the theatre the screen envelopes you completely. We were so mesmerised that the first few minutes were like being in a joy ride. While the promos with their fast edits were on, it felt like watching a 3-D film or something.
The screen is so huge that you dont want to miss a thing. But the idea is to watch the part that is right in front of your eyes. The dome part of the screen is just effective for the 3-D kinda shots.
If one wasnt enough for the day. We decided to go in and watch the next show.
Discoveries of Egypt.
This was another experience in itself. The 50-minute documentary has been telecast on National Geographic and tells the tales of Pyramids in Egypt and other cultural art. More than the narration, it was once again the visuals that took over.
In fact there are no real words to express the experience of watching an I MAX film. One has to feel it to know what it is all about. In one word, it is
awesome.
